Reverting to the original (development) firmware - Xiaomi Mini

With OpenWRT development seemingly stalled, and little (stable) progress from all the hacky branches the lack of a good enough WAF finally kicked in so I'm reverting back to the xiaomi firmware.

(down)grading was easy enough

download the development firmware (i'm trying latest development version 2.1.6)
put it on a FAT32 formatted usb stick
unpower router
power router AND hold reset button untill the front LED blinks orange.
wait until LED turns blue.

but then you are stuck with a chinese firmware :)
... and since it isn't confiured yet, i couldn't rely on google translate ... hope the following make sense:

the opening screen asks for T&C's and whether you want to join the 'customer experience program'

the second one sets SSID and password and a seperate admin password if you uncheck the box

the setup defaults to router mode, after digging through the UI: 'globe icon'  , all the way at the bottom you can change between router, wireless relay and AP.

! for some reason it then reverted to fixed IP, but to the IP address previously handed out by my DHCP. I changed it manually out of my DHCP's range by SSH-ing into it and editing /etc/config/network.
This worked, but seemed to have confused their version of luci temporarily.

Also, I commented out the hidden wifi miwifi_ready (probably created for the xiaomi app) in /etc/config/wireless.

! everything seems to work, until a reboot... even without fiddling with any of the settings manualy.
